Scott Air Force Base is home of Air Mobility Command's "Showcase Wing." A very dynamic and Joint Total Force environment.

The primary mission of Scott AFB is global mobility. The base commands and controls all logistics of United States military in air, over land and across the sea. Team Scott sets policies and executes all air mobility operations.

The installation is responsible for providing United States aeromedical evacuation capabilities, fly operational support airlift in the C-21, and air refueling missions in the KC-135. Scott Air Force Base supplies forces to theater combatant commanders.

Project Restore Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Parade!

On Saturday  the best-dressed pooches in the region will strut their stuff for one of the biggest Halloween kickoff events in the area. Project Restore, an Edwardsville organization dedicated to addressing education, clean water, and medical care issues in developing countries, will host the 2nd Annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Parade, a morning of fun for every member of the family, including the four-legged ones! Due to the popularity of the event, the parade has been moved to Joe Glik Park to accommodate longer routes, larger crowds, and bigger family fun! In addition to the parade, the event includes raffles, giveaways, and other activities.

YO GALGO is a documentary film about the Spanish Galgo, probably the most mistreated breed of dog to date. The galgo is used for hunting and competition, and once the hunting season is over 50,000-100,000 galgos are discarded; either abandoned, hung, drowned, beaten to death or killed in other ways. Join us for dinner, a screening of part of the film, Q & A with the film maker, and fundraising to transport Galgos for adoption to Chicago.

HSCI is having a Spay/Neuter Clinic for Dogs on Monday, October 17. Puppies must be at least eight weeks of age to receive surgery. Puppies under four months of age will not receive a rabies vaccination. Dogs on medication or showing signs of respiratory infections will not be considered for surgery. Pit Bull mixes must have the outward appearance more on the pit side to qualify.

Dogs are dropped off at 7:00 am, Monday, October 17 at the Pet Adoption Center, 423 Kays Drive in Normal. Dogs must be in a hard sided carrier with newspapers in the bottom. One dog per carrier. If you need to borrow a carrier, please call the office in advance to make arrangements to have one available.
Dogs will be returned to their owners on Tuesday, October 18 between 8:45 - 9:15 am and are to be picked up from the Pet Adoption Center.
Owners must sign a surgery consent form at the time of check-in.

In this session, help us transcribe thousands of Chicagoland bird observations recorded between 1886 and 1943 by some of our earliest citizen scientists—Reverend Francis S. Dayton, William Dreuth, and members of the Chicago Ornithological Society. This session will feature a guest speaker on birding in Chicago.

Welcome to the CFNL Crossfit triathlon!  Instead of doing a swim portion like a regular triathlon, we are substituting it with the use of a concept 2 rowing machine!  All proceeds from the event will go to our furry friends at Alsip to the Rescue!
We will have On- site adoptions available, prizes, and raffles!  Every athlete will receive a shirt with their registration.  There will be men's and women's divisions, along with a masters(40+) mens and women's division.
